A lovely sunset at my favorite sunset spot in Austin…
My favorite sunset spot in Austin, and just a few miles from home. Doesn’t get easier than that! I went up here recently, just to get out and shoot a few. I didn’t bring a bag full of gear. Just one lens on my camera and a tripod. No filters, no video equipment, nothing else. It was incredibly peaceful and relaxing to just stand there, take in the view and shoot. Luckily the sunset sky was cooperative, too!
Sunsets close to home
A lovely sunset that happened while I was out shooting at a local park…
I went over to my favorite local hiking trail the other day to shoot and film a little bit, and upon departing just had to stop for one last shot of the sunset. I was there to shoot that little waterfall, but sometimes when you back up and look at the bigger scene you realize that’s a good shot too!
One spot, two different nights
I stood in the same spot two nights in a row and got two different but equally gorgeous sunsets.
I spent a lot of time at this spot when we visited Anguilla. We were staying at the Four Seasons there, and this was right next to the bar at the adult pool. The view was incredible and I could literally sit there and have dinner while taking photos of the beautiful sunsets. Two nights in a row in the same spot? You bet!
Watching a Venetian sunset
A stunning sunset in the equally stunning city of Venice, Italy…
Ah, lovely Venice! So gorgeous, so fun to shoot, and so hard to navigate! :-) I admit to getting lost a few times while wandering with my camera in Venice, but that’s just part of the fun. But this spot, just near St Mark’s Square and the Grand Canal, is where you pretty much don’t have to worry about getting lost. It’s very central, and busy, but at sunset it just comes alive!

Such amazing light out there in Oregon! I do love Oregon, especially the coastline around the Cannon Beach area. I have been there a few times and always come away with photos that I a proud of. This was taken on the beach down below the viewing platform at Ecola State Park. Just another example of that amazing light out in Oregon…

Twilight in Glasgow, Scotland…
I always found Glasgow, Scotland to be beautiful. It’s not as popular as Edinburgh but I really like the city. Here’s a quick snap from one evening there just around twilight. I was in Royal Exchange Square and just loved the view and the light.
Seattle sunsets
A lovely sunset in Seattle…
I was in Seattle in November, and on evening was able to get down to Pike Place Market to take some shots. It had been a nice afternoon, with some clouds, and I was hoping that the sunset would turn into something decent. So I popped into a place to have a beer, and when I emerged it was full-on sunset. I was frantically running here and there to capture the light, because it was just beautiful. Luckily I didn’t miss this one!

Oh man this was a beauty!
I recently spent some time in Seattle, and on my first night there I was treated to this stunning sunset, right behind Pike Place Market. I was shooting all around that area, which I love to visit, and when the light started going off I ran behind the market to get an unobstructed view of the sunset. It was a stunning display for sure!
Golden Copenhagen

Ah, Copenhagen is lovely!
I just returned from a trip to Seattle, and while there met a guy from Copenhagen. We chatted a bit about the city and just how beautiful it is, which reminded me of all the visits and photos I have of that lovely city. It really is a gorgeous place - I would say one of the more beautiful cities I have visited. So I had to dig out a photo from one of my previous trips there. I captured some lovely golden light one evening over Nyhavn, which is their main entertainment area in town. So photogenic, and then when you get light like this it really sparkles!
Last light in Oregon
Lovely last light along the Oregon coast…
I absolutely adore Oregon, it is my favorite state in the US. It’s just so beautiful, and in particular the coast around Cannon Beach is just stunning. I have shot there many times, and hope to shoot it many more times in the future. It never gets old.

Ah, fair Italy, such a gorgeous country. This was a sunset in Florence looking over the River Arno. I just stood on one of the bridges and waited for that boat to get into the right spot. Easy!
The skyline of Vancouver
A lovely view at sunset over the skyline of Vancouver…
When we were in Vancouver, we rented an apartment with this stunning view. When I first walked in and saw this view, I was so happy and hoped for some nice light. Luckily, that afternoon it started looking great, and then sunset was just gorgeous. I just stood on the balcony and fired away. It was probably the least amount of effort I ever needed for a sunset. I only had to walk about 10 feet from the couch!

This was one of those sunsets that you just luck into. Well, since we can’t control the weather, I guess we luck into all of them. But you know, I didn’t expect the light to be so stunning, or The Vatican to be so deserted. But hey, no complaints from me! :-)

Sometimes you just luck into some beautiful light, and happen to have the camera handy! Sure, I love to plan ahead like everyone else, but when I stumbled onto this scene while walking back to my hotel in Rome, I was very happy to get a “lucky shot” for a change!

Sunset in Eastbourne, England…
This was a lovely sunset along the southern coast of England. We were staying nearby and went to Eastbourne to catch the end of the day. It didn’t look like it was going to be much of a sunset, but likely it ended up like this, so as you can imagine we were quite happy about that!
