Walking into a screensaver
The stunning beaches and colorful water in Anguilla are almost unreal...
Walking along the beaches in Anguilla is a bit like walking into a screensaver. The white sugary-sand beaches are pristine and that water just begs to be photographed. Honestly, you know I love to post-process my photos but who needs to do that when you are capturing this??
Sunny and hot in Anguilla
A sunny afternoon on the beach in Anguilla...so beautiful and peaceful. And warm! :-)
For those of you someplace cold - here's a photo to warm you up!
I still have a TON of photos to edit and share from our trip to Anguilla earlier this year. It's a gorgeous island and one worth visiting. Sadly, it was badly damaged in Hurricane Irma but I read a recent report that it is bouncing back well. I am so glad to hear that. It's not only beautiful but the people are just so nice there. I highly recommend a visit if you get the chance!
Golden hour in Anguilla
Golden light over a serene beach in Anguilla...
The beaches in Anguilla are amazing!
When we visited Anguilla earlier this year, I was amazed at just how beautiful this little spot is. I captured so many photos of serene, beautiful beaches in all sorts of light. This was just before sunset and as you can see I had the place nearly to myself. I'm not sure where everyone was, but I am very glad to have been standing there while this was happening!
Sadly, Hurricane Irma came through and devastated large parts of this island. According to reports I read online, this location (which is at the Four Seasons Resort) was heavily damaged, so I wish them all a speedy recovery.
Golden hour in Anguilla
Gorgeous golden hour light at the Four Seasons Hotel, Anguilla...
A lovely late afternoon in Anguilla!
We spent a few nights here at the Four Seasons Hotel Anguilla, and basically spent each day on the beach and then spent our happy hour/dinner hours at the bar by the pool. This was about a 15 second walk away, so I would just wait for the light to get all awesome, then take a few steps and fire away. It was pretty easy, I confess, but someone had to do it! :-)
Another beauty from Anguilla
The sunsets in Anguilla were spectacular while I was there...
So many sunset photos from Anguilla!
Despite only being in Anguilla a week, I captured SO many sunset photos. The light was great while I was there, and I could capture most of them from the hotel bar. ;-)
Literally, this was about a 1 minute walk from the bar/restaurant where we ate dinner every night at the Four Seasons Anguilla. The view was great, the light was off the charts amazing, and all I had to do was take a short stroll and fire away. It doesn't get much easier than that!
A beautiful sunset in Anguilla
An incredible sunset in Anguilla, reflected in the resort pool...
Oh boy was I having fun with this sunset!
Like every photographer, I love to shoot sunset. Actually, I prefer sunrise but in some spots sunset is better, due to the position of the sun...but I digress. When we were in Anguilla, I had several amazing sunsets, which always makes a vacation better. :-)
This was one of those sunsets that seems to last for hours, with the light constantly changing and just getting more and more intense. To say I was happy is a bit of an understatement. I was as giddy as a schoolgirl! I was firing away, moving around and firing more, and probably singing out loud at the same time. I'm sure everyone thought I was a weirdo, but who cares. Look at that light!
That stunning light in Anguilla
Two photos from two sunsets in Anguilla, each lovely in their own way...
I was really impressed with this tiny little island, though the incredible sunsets I captured while there probably influenced my love of it quite a bit!
I really did have some amazing light while in Anguilla. The first 3 sunsets were amazing, and I just made the assumption that every day was like that. It wasn't, but hey I will take 3 beauties in a row any week! Here's a couple of pics to prove my point! :-)
The sunset skies of Anguilla
Four different but equally beautiful sunset shots from lovely Anguilla...and all I had to do was get up from my bar stool and take a few steps to frame them!
So many beautiful sunsets in Anguilla!
When we were in Anguilla, I had several amazing sunsets in a row. I got a little spoiled, I will admit, but hey they just kept showing up and I just kept firing. Heck, I hardly even had to leave my seat at the bar to capture these. ;-)
Literally, I would wander just a little closer to the water and fire away. It was simple. I love when that happens. I hardly had to do a thing - that's how a vacation ought to be, right?!
A stunning sunset in Anguilla
An amazing sunset in lovely Anguilla...
I got three amazing sunsets in a row!
My first three nights in Anguilla all had spectacular sunsets. I thought I had finally found photographic heaven. You know, you get three in a row and you start to believe it's like this every day. Literally, they were all gorgeous. Thankfully, I did not get lazy, despite spending the afternoon at the beach and sipping on cold beer. I got up and got busy. It was awesome. Sadly, the sunsets fizzled for most of the rest of the time we were there, but boy did I fire away like a maniac those first 3 nights!
This is a 3 exposure HDR made in Aurora HDR by Macphun, which I use for all my HDR photos. You can read my HDR tutorial here and download a free trial copy right here. But, maybe do that in the reverse order. You know, download the free trial, then come read the tutorial. ;-)
Anguilla is a dream
We took a trip down to the island of Anguilla in the Caribbean, and it's just amazing!
We recently took a trip to Anguilla, and it's amazing!
Truthfully, I knew nothing about Anguilla - not even how to pronounce it correctly (rhymes with vanilla). I had heard the name but that's about it. Turns out it's an amazing little island with some INCREDIBLY clear water. It's like walking into a screensaver!
We hit the beach every day, did some snorkeling, sat by the pool - basically we relaxed, and it was awesome. We needed it. Now that I am back and getting back into the groove, I am working through all the pics I took there. They mostly look like this one! LOL More to come!
