The light in Italy
I had to get up from our dinner to go shoot this, but who can focus on a meal when this is happening??
This was an amazing sunset (I guess that is pretty obvious though). We were dining in Praiano, Italy along the Amalfi Coast, and sat on a terrace overlooking this beautiful area. As the light began to change, I got more and more twitchy until I just had to get up, leave dinner, and take photos. I just couldn’t miss something this spectacular. This is definitely in the top 5 sunsets I have ever witnessed, maybe top 3. Just so gorgeous!

When we were visiting the Amalfi Coast in Italy, our hotel was in the little town of Praiano, which is a mile or so from Positano. Just a quick bus ride and you are in the thick of it, but in Praiano you have the benefit of a little quieter spot. Our hotel had a rooftop deck with a pool, and I went up there one night for this nice view of the little church next door. I couldn’t resist a little blue hour shot from up there!

An incredible sunset from southern Italy…
Oh man was this a stunner of a sunset!
We had been out all day, and when dinner rolled around we were too tired for any big production, so we just strolled down the street to this place with a lovely view. I did not expect this sort of light, but when it started coming together I had to leave the dinner table and shoot it! I love a good meal, but sunsets as beautiful as this one don’t come around very often!
A great view in Positano
The stunningly gorgeous coastal Italian town of Positano…so beautiful there!
Positano, Italy is just stunning. We spent about a week in that area and loved every minute of it. From dipping into the cold Mediterranean to the food and of course the amazing views, it's just a gorgeous and stimulating place.
One day we were walking around and came across a lovely hotel perched up on one of the hills there. I could see through the lobby and there was obviously a great view to be had, so I walked on through it to the balcony and fired away. No one seemed to care that I was just there for the photo opp so I took a few before departing. Act like you belong there and no one notices - works every time!

A stunning sunset in Praiano along the Amalfi Coast!
We spent a few days in this lovely little Italian town along the Amalfi Coast, and every minute of it was filled with beauty. Literally, everything is just stunning there. We had dinner one evening overlooking the sea, and this sunset started coming together. I couldn't contain my excitement, and had to get up and go shoot before I finished eating! Well worth it though!

Like everyone else in the world, I love to take photos of a gorgeous sunset. Sadly, it's somewhat rare that I get to do so. Either I am not in the right place when it happens, or I am out shooting but the light is only fair. That's ok, because that's how it goes - and it makes you appreciate the incredible ones all that much more.
This was our last evening in the little town of Praiano along the Amalfi Coast in Italy, last year. We were having a lovely dinner on the terrace at the hotel restaurant, and I could see this amazing light coming together. I basically had to leave the dinner table for a while so I could shoot this thing, but nobody seemed to mind. The rest of the patrons were all doing the same thing!
