Auberge Restaurant - Montreal

My first shot from Old Montreal!  What a lovely place!  Have you been there?

I made a short but productive trip to Montreal, Canada last week, spending just 1 night there.  It’s a long way from Texas!  Anyways, I arrived late afternoon and was able to get out and shoot in Old Montreal before last light.  It’s a beautiful area and the French influence is just so interesting - you hear the French language spoken as people pass, and it does have a decidedly European feel to it.  On my wanderings there, I came across this restaurant and just loved the look of it.  There were several cars coming by, all dropping folks off for dinner, so it must be good!  I kept jumping into and out of the street, eventually having to wait them out and get a clean shot - but I got it!

Sushi on the slopes

This sushi restaurant was at the base of the mountain in Beaver Creek, CO.  It looked like a great place, but I never made it in.  Truth is, as you can see, the name of the place is Foxnut.  I have no idea what that has to do with sushi, or a restaurant for that matter, but if I found one in my sushi that would be a bad thing!  Ok, that was offsides.  Sorry.  Anyways, I was walking by, snapping this and that, and the contrast of the brightly colored chairs against an otherwise bland scene caught my eye.  I obviously went a little strong on the HDR processing on this one.  Sometimes, I feel that it is warranted in order to accentuate something, and sometimes it's just plain fun!  In this shot I liked the look my processing gave to the chairs, almost like they are about to melt.  Also, it helped bring up some of the detail in the interior of the space.  And yes, that is my reflection in the bottom left window.

Fonda San Miguel

This is the entrance to Fonda San Miguel restaurant in Austin, TX.  It is wonderful.  It has been open since 1975 and serves authentic interior Mexican food.  It is widely recognized as one of the finer restaurants of its type in the country.  In other words, if you visit Austin, come eat here because it is great!
