At heart I am a traveler, photographer and writer. These are the things that fill my soul and provide me with endless inspiration. I was born an Army Brat, and have had "itchy feet" for as long as I can remember. Getting up and going somewhere - and then crafting beautiful images when I get there - is just who I am and what I like to do. So I started a blog about it, and here I am. (Well, technically it was a bit of a winding road getting here, but here I am now.)
I’ve been sharing my photos, insights and experiences here on Nomadic Pursuits for years now and work hard to provide inspiration and education for those who come here in search of information that I have gathered from hard-won experience.
I share tips, tricks, product reviews and tutorials to help others improve their travel photography and travel experiences - and I absolutely LOVE to do so. I think of this site as a combination of travel, photography, inspiration and education. I hope to inspire others to travel, explore new places and document them via the wonders of digital photography. It’s quite fun, isn’t it?
We wander for distraction, but we travel for fulfillment. ~Hilaire Belloc
If you are looking for high quality photographs to showcase your city, location, or destination or you need both engaging travel content and high quality destination photography to drive interest and awareness, contact me so that we can discuss a customized program to suit your needs. I'm flexible and willing to get creative.
I am well-known and respected in the global photo community and I have over 300,000 followers across all of my social media channels. Many of my lists, articles and reviews rank on the first page of relevant Google searches and are frequently referred to and linked to by other websites. I was also named one of the Top 100 Travel Photographers in the world in 2015, which you can read about here.
Things that I am interested in discussing, have the skills and experience for, and/or enjoy:
Travel photography / Destination photography / Architecture and real estate photography
Travel writing / Freelance writing assignments / Press trips
Product reviews / Sponsorships / Brand ambassadorships
I enjoy providing recommendations and guidance to others on photography locations, destinations and related activities, and photography and travel related equipment - all based on my experience with them. I am interested in speaking with brands about being featured here on the blog as a Sponsor/Partner as well as across my social media channels and in my Newsletter.
This blog receives several hundred thousands views per year. The audience that I reach is 45% female with 75% of my visitors being between the ages of 18-44. The US accounts for 58% of my traffic, followed by the United Kingdom at 17%, and France, Canada, The Netherlands, Germany, India, Australia, Denmark and Ireland rounding out the top 10. Facebook and Pinterest each account for 40% of my social network referral traffic.
I have licensed photos to businesses worldwide and my photos have been used on websites, company brochures, hotel room keys, marketing materials, napkins, drink coasters and more. I've been featured on the cover of a literary journal and a local Austin visitor's guide. I've even been published in Popular Photography Magazine.
I am open to ideas or programs that would be mutually beneficial, whether that is photography, travel or writing, or some combination of the three. Please note that if you are asking me to review a product, service or experience, I will give an honest review based on my experience with it. Should the experience be less than pleasant, I will absolutely discuss with you prior to publishing it, and offer you ample opportunity to issue a statement about the situation. I believe that honesty is the best policy, and that feels like it’s fair to both of us and to my readers.
I also want to be clear that I am only interested in reviewing items that I feel like I will actually use. If I can't imagine using it or cannot think of a way that it will be beneficial, I won't waste anybody's time. Items that could be of interest are hardware and software that are photography-specific as well as general travel products, services and experiences.
I am not looking for sponsored posts or guest posts on this blog, and while some things are a great fit for what I do and the audience that I reach, others are not. I believe this is a two-way street and we can work together to ensure great experiences for everyone involved. Let’s discuss your idea and see what we both think!
